On the Nice List? Now make their Christmas list

Grandparents, aunts and uncles will ask what to get. Put the wishes on a free Wishes list and send them one link. They open it without an account, and when someone books a gift, everyone else sees it is taken, so nobody doubles up.

Sign in with Apple or Google to start. The new list is titled with your child's name, which you can change, and you add the wishes there: pasting a store link brings in the photo and name. The certificate stays on this page.

Writing to Santa too? The letter to Santa template has prompts for their name, age and wishes. Want a list on paper? The Christmas list template prints one with the store, price and size of each gift.

How to use the Nice List certificate

  1. Fill it in

Type your child's name and up to three nice things they did this year, and add a note from Santa if you like. Pick a style. Or print it blank and write it by hand, in your best Santa handwriting.

  2. Print and sign it

It prints on one Letter or A4 page, with nothing else from this site on it. Sign it as Santa Claus and as the Chief Elf, ideally in two different pens. Card stock makes it feel official.

  3. Let them find it

Leave it by the tree, in a stocking, or tucked into a letter from Santa. Some families give it on December 1 to start the season, others on Christmas Eve.

What to write on the Nice List

  • For little ones

    • Sharing toys with their baby sister
    • Gentle hands with the cat
    • Brushing teeth without a fuss
    • Saying thank you at Grandma's
  • For school-age kids

    • Being a friend to the new kid in class
    • Reading every night before bed
    • Helping set the table
    • Trying hard in swimming lessons
  • For older kids

    • Looking after their little brother
    • Sticking with piano when it got hard
    • Helping a neighbor rake the leaves
    • Being honest when it would have been easier not to

A note from Santa

  • “The elves told me how kind you were to your new classmate. That is the best kind of nice.”
  • “I saw how hard you worked at reading this year. Keep going, I'm proud of you!”
  • “Keep sharing and helping like you did this year. See you on Christmas Eve!”

And the naughty list?

Santa's naughty list is part of the fun of the story, and that is where it works best: as a joke, not a threat. Every child who is trying belongs on the Nice List, which is why this page only makes Nice List certificates.

If it was a bumpy year, write about effort: the thing they kept practicing, the time they said sorry, the day they helped without being asked. A certificate they can be proud of is the one they will keep.

Questions, answered

Is the Nice List certificate free?

Yes. Filling it in and printing it are free, with no account and no sign-up.

Can I print a blank Santa's Nice List certificate?

Yes. Press Print before typing anything and you get a certificate with empty lines for the name, three nice things and a note from Santa, to fill in by hand.

What should I write on a Nice List certificate?

Real things your child did this year, said the way Santa would notice them: sharing, helping at home, being kind to someone, or working hard at something difficult. Specific beats general, so “Helping Grandpa rake the leaves” lands better than “Being good”.

Is there a naughty list certificate?

No. This page only makes Nice List certificates. The naughty list is part of the story, but a printed certificate telling a child they are on it tends to feel like shaming rather than fun. If it was a hard year, write about what they kept trying at.

Does this page save my child's name?

Only in your own browser, so the certificate is still there if you reload the page. It is not sent to Wishes unless you tap “Now make their Christmas list” and create the list: then the list is titled with your child's name, which you can change. Clear removes it.

Will it fit on one page?

Yes. The certificate prints on a single Letter or A4 page, and only the certificate prints: the form and the rest of this page are left off.

When should I give the certificate?

Whenever it fits your family. Some leave it by the tree or in a stocking on Christmas Eve, some send it with a letter from Santa in early December, and some give it as a reward for a kind moment.

How do family know what to get them?

Make their Christmas list on Wishes and share one link. Family open it without an account, and when someone books a gift, everyone else sees it is taken. You see that a gift is booked, but not who booked it. Booking takes a free Apple or Google sign-in, and your first three wishlists are free.

Santa has the Nice List. Family gets the link.

One Wishes list for everyone who shops for your child. They book what they're giving, so nobody buys the same thing.
