How to write a letter to Santa with your child
- Ages 2 to 4
They talk, you write
Ask the questions out loud: what they did well this year, what they would love, and who else should get something. Type their answers the way they say them, then print it and let them draw on it or sign it with a handprint.
- Ages 5 to 7
Fill in the blanks together
Print a blank letter and let them write on the lines. The prompts give them the shape, so all they need is the words. Spell tricky ones on a scrap of paper for them to copy.
- Ages 8 and up
In their own words
Let them write or type it themselves. Ask them to put the wishes in order, most wanted first, and to be specific about the size or color. A question for Santa and a wish for someone else make it a letter, not just a list.

Where to mail a letter to Santa
Two postal services run programs for letters to Santa. The addresses and 2026 dates below are the ones they publish. Wishes isn't part of either, so check their pages before you mail.
United States: USPS Operation Santa
Santa 123 Elf Road North Pole, 88888
- A First-Class stamp in the upper right corner of the envelope.
- Your full name and return address, with any apartment number, in the upper left.
- USPS gives Saturday, December 5, 2026 as the last day to send letters.
- Write clearly, and leave off glitter and anything glued on.
- Open to letters from the continental U.S., Hawaii and Puerto Rico.
- Some letters are posted online, with last names and addresses blacked out, for people to adopt and fulfill. USPS says there is no guarantee a letter is posted or adopted.
Canada: Canada Post
Santa Claus North Pole H0H 0H0 Canada
- No stamp is needed to mail a letter to Santa within Canada.
- Include your return address, and drop it in any Canada Post mailbox or post office.
- Send it no later than December 9, 2026.
- Letters from one family can go in the same envelope.
- Canada Post says Santa responds to all letters he receives.
Before it goes in the envelope, print a second copy or press Copy as text. Once the letter is in the mail, that copy is the list the rest of the family shops from.

How do you write a letter to Santa?
Start with “Dear Santa,” and say your name and age. Say what you did well this year, list a few wishes with the one you want most first, add a wish for someone else and maybe a question, then sign it. The template on this page has a line for each.

Can I print a blank letter to Santa?

Where do I mail a letter to Santa?

Does this page save the letter?
Only in your own browser, so the letter is still there if you reload the page. Nothing is stored on a server or sent to Wishes. Clear removes it.
How many wishes should a child put in a letter to Santa?
Three to five is plenty for most children, with the one they want most first. The template has room for up to eight.
How do grandparents know what to buy from the letter?
